NCBA has scaled its pledge to sustainable community development with the donation of the first batch of twenty-four 5,000-litre water storage tanks to the Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency (LVSWWDA).
The significant support is expected to enhance access to clean and reliable water across Nyanza, a region that has for a long time struggled with inconsistent supply.
The water tanks will be distributed to schools, markets, as well as social and faith-based institutions across eight counties under the agency’s mandate.
For many of the targeted communities, access to clean water has for long remained a persistent challenge that has hindered learning, public health, and economic activity.
NCBA Group Director for Corporate & Investment Banking Tirus Mwithiga said the bank is stepping in to fill a critical gap by boosting water storage capacity for key community institutions.

Mwithiga noted that the noble initiative seeks to address a fundamental need of the targeted regions while laying a foundation for long-term development in the region.
He explained that this is how NCBA “changes the story” by action that improves lives today and supports growth for generations.
“Our partnership with Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency reflects a shared vision for sustainability,” Mwithiga stated as he emphasized that the programme by NCBA will run for years to support people and the environment.
The donation is part of NCBA’s Change the Story initiative, its sustainability engine that channels annual investments into environmental conservation, financial empowerment, education, tree planting, and efforts to curb environmental degradation.
Through such interventions, NCBA Bank has continued to demonstrate that meaningful progress is driven by consistent, tangible action and not merely intention.
LVSWWDA CEO Jackline Kemunto lauded the gesture by the Tier-1 bank, describing it as the beginning of a long-term partnership.
“We are deeply grateful to NCBA for this generous contribution of water tanks… the foundation of a long-term partnership built on sustainability that will enhance water accessibility for both underserved and deserving communities,” Kemunto said.
Kemunto added that the 24 tanks are part of a larger rollout of 200 tanks that will serve schools, hospitals, market centres, and community groups across the region.
She noted that working in collaboration with NCBA will allow the water agency to take its mandate to the next level and create lasting impact.
The partnership also underscores NCBA’s strategy of building stronger public–private partnerships to advance community resilience, while strengthening its corporate banking footprint in the Western Kenya region.
The move tanks will see NCBA expand access to clean water for communities across Nyanza to boost dignity and health and embed sustainability at the heart of regional transformation.
